My name is Mark Choat, and I am the sole writer of addictionplace. I'm a father, husband, son, brother, friend, school district attendance / Dropout Prevention Specialis, who lives a successful life with a Psychological and Addiction Disorder.
I've been a special education teacher for 15 years and a high school baseball coach for 7 of those years. In my professional experience, I have been a resource core subject teacher, the coordinator / teacher of an autism program on a middle school campus, a behavior teacher, and I am currently the vocation coordinator / teacher on a high school campus.
I graduated from a college in Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree in Education, specialization - Special Education K-12. Currently, I am attending Kaplan University to earn a Masters Degree in Psychology, with an emphasis in Addiction Studies.
I have now been in active recovery for over 5 1/2 years, and have been treated for bipolar disorder for over 7 years. I continue to aspire to be an addiction counselor and a writer. I enjoy writing books about addiction, self help strategies, personal stories, and blog posts with similar content.
